Julia D’Ascanio is a vocalist based in Toronto, Ontario. While her foundation is in jazz, she is versatile and at home in other genres like pop, musical theatre, and R&B. Julia is a recent graduate from the University of Toronto’s jazz vocal performance program, having graduated in June of 2024. She has performed with renowned artists Terri Lyne Carrington and Micah Barnes, and has studied with notable Toronto musicians including Tara Davidson, Christine Duncan, Tara Kannangara, Jacqueline Teh, Hannah Barstow, Nicky Schrire, and Lauren Falls.

Julia was featured as a part of Jazz FM’s 2024 Jazzology series, as well as Jazz in Toronto’s 2023 Young Artist series. Julia was a recipient of the Duke Ellington Society Jazz Scholarship for 2021 to 2022. She was also a member of the Toronto All-Star Big Band from 2020 to 2023. She has performed at the Beaches International Jazz Festival, the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival, the Kensington Market Jazz Festival, and at venues including The Rex, The Emmet Ray, Drom Taberna, The Tranzac, Casa Loma and The Old Mill.
